Special Needs in the Classroom

All children have access to the National Curriculum.

In line with the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice, our school S.E.N.D policy, details the procedures we follow to identify and make provision for pupils who may have a special educational need.

Pupils with SEND are supported in class by their Class Teacher and Teaching Assistants (TAs). All our teachers work hard to ensure that their teaching matches the needs of all learners and they undergo regular training to keep their S.E.N. knowledge up to date therefore enabling them to provide the best for our pupils. All classes have TA support. Pupils may also work with other TAs in school to support them or to do specific work e.g. speech and language programmes. Your child may work in class with individual or small group support or may sometimes be withdrawn from the classroom to work one to one with a TA or in small groups.

Keeping you informed

We work closely in partnership with families and young children and to take the time to listen, discuss and plan for the future through the ILP (Individual Learning Plan). We use One-page profiles to share knowledge of how children learn best.

We welcome you in school to talk to us about any issues or concerns whenever you need to. Please speak to your child’s teacher to arrange a suitable time or if you would like to speak with Holly Seymour, our SENCo, please contact the office who will be happy to arrange a time.
